As part of the war against terrorism, the North African countries, led by Algeria, are waging an intense fight on all fronts: military, security, economic, and intellectual. This fight carries a message of peace, stability, and development—not only for Africa but also for the Arab world and The Middle East as well as the European continent.

The Executive Bureau of the Global Security Organization Against Corruption and Crime (OMSAC), during its meeting on November 6, 2024, dedicated this session exclusively to reviewing the final report of the extensive consultation conducted with several government institutions, NGOs, diplomatic figures, political leaders, and media representatives from the countries concerned by the International Conference for Peace, the Fight Against Terrorism, and Extremism.

To ensure the success of this major event, an ad hoc committee was established to develop the detailed conference program. This committee, chaired by a renowned personality, consists of eleven (11) experts representing various nationalities from the concerned countries. It submitted the draft program of the event along with additional recommendations.

After a thorough analysis of the program and recommendations submitted by the ad hoc committee, the Executive Bureau granted an additional two-month extension for the committee to finalize the official event program.

Regarding the selection of the host country, a shortlist of five countries was drawn from an initial selection of ten:

  • Algeria

  • Tunisia

  • Egypt

  • Bahrain

  • Saudi Arabia

After the two-month extension, the ad hoc committee submitted the official program for the International Conference for Peace, the Fight Against Terrorism, and Extremism to the Executive Bureau on January 10, 2025.

On February 15, 2025, the Executive Bureau convened to address various urgent alerts received since the beginning of the year from our whistleblowers across different continents. At the same time, the Executive Bureau reviewed the final details of the International Conference for Peace, the Fight Against Terrorism, and Extremism.

Following a constructive and democratic debate, the Executive Bureau approved the official conference program and deliberated on the choice of the host country, which was narrowed down to Tunisia and Algeria. Consequently, the Executive Bureau assigned the Department of International Relations to assess the ad hoc committee’s recommendation and finalize the host country selection no later than February 25, 2025.

Today, the Executive Bureau reviewed the report from the Department of International Relations and officially confirmed Algeria as the host country for the International Conference for Peace, the Fight Against Terrorism, and Extremism.

The Department of International Relations and the ad hoc committee pay tribute to all the countries considered in the initial selection phase, ensuring that this choice was made with full awareness and deep respect for them.

Once official approval is received from the host country’s authorities, a joint commission will be formally established to oversee the event’s complete management. This commission will consist of representatives from OMSAC and officials appointed by the host country’s authorities.

The final event dossier is expected to be completed by May 30, 2025.

The International Conference for Peace, the Fight Against Terrorism, and Extremism is scheduled to take place at the end of 2025. For practical reasons, it may be postponed to the first quarter of 2026, with the exact date to be determined after consultations with the host country.

This high-level international event aims to bring together key actors in the fight against terrorism and extremism to exchange effective strategies, promote a coordinated approach, and strengthen commitments to global peace and stability.

Given the significance of this event and its core message, the Executive Bureau seeks to grant civil society organizations a prominent role—not merely as guests but as active partners. The goal is to raise awareness and encourage them to play a crucial role in spreading a culture of peace, integrity, and resistance against all forms of violence, terrorism, and extremism.

The partnership and collaboration between governments and NGOs serve as a powerful weapon in eradicating terrorism, extremism, and crime—threats that endanger humanity.

It is imperative to establish a frank, sincere, and constructive dialogue between state representatives and civil society to develop sustainable and effective solutions together. This synergy is key to promoting peace, strengthening societal resilience, and ensuring a future built on security, justice, and international cooperation.
